Ibn Battuta Morocco Moroccan Explorer 6 grade 7 grade 8 grade history English

Description

Ibn Battuta was a medieval traveler who wrote about his adventures after covering 75,000 miles over 29 years. At the end of Ibn Battuta's life, the Sultan of Morocco insisted that he write about his travel experience in Dar al-Islam.

This Hyperdoc guides both student and teacher through the 13 Chapters of his book using both his translated words and summaries of his travels by scholars. Using Google Sheets, students will take notes of Places, Years, Descriptions of the places, and Unusual sights and Dangers. Students will import the notes of their assigned chapter into Google My Maps where they will add pictures and descriptions of those pictures. Lastly, students will create a Screencastify video explaining each stop in their chapter.

Extension activities include writing a postcard and writing a research report repeating what they said in the screencast.
