This blended lesson supports both 7th Grade ELA and History by analyzing a Sufi poem, the poet's biography, and the boundaries of the Persian Empire during the poet's lifetime. Students will explore the poet's history using an online resource, participate in a whole group discussion and analysis of the poem, and demonstrate their interpretation of the poem using Google Slides, Google Drawings and/or Screencastify.
Finally, have students share the work by adding it to a Google My Maps that mark the Persian boundaries in 1256. If I knew how to make a copy of the My Maps with the boundaries, I would share that with you. (If you know the answer, please email me).
